Anthony Christiano

Mr. Anthony Christiano, 88, of Gloversville, passed away March 4, 2014, at Nathan Littauer Hospital. Mr. Christiano was born September 17, 1925, in Gloversville, son of the late Frank and Lucy Pezzella Christiano. He was educated in Gloversville schools and proudly served his country as a carpenter's mate with the U.S. Navy during WW II.

Anthony enjoyed hunting and fishing, and was a longtime New York Yankee fan. He was a leather worker his entire life working as a slocum staker at G. Levors & Co. for twenty-nine years. He also worked for fifteen years at Johnstown Leather, retiring in 1987. A loving and selfless father, Anthony will be sadly missed by family and friends.

He is survived by his children, Jon Christiano (Jane Ross PhD.) of New Haven Vt., Richard Christiano (Shelley DeLong) of Perth, Anthony P. Christiano (Anne) of Charlotte, N.C., Karen Lachenauer (Charles) of Leesburg, Fla., Claudia Lake (Denton) of Riceville, Maureen Christiano of Gloversville and Jeanine Falco (Salvatore) of Malta. He is also survived by a sister, Mary VanNostrand of Mayfield; twenty grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Anthony was predeceased by his wife, Venita Roof Christiano in 2010; and several brothers and sisters.

A private graveside service with military honors will be held at the convenience of his family at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gloversville. The Christiano family invites extended family and friends to a celebration of Anthony's life at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, March 7, 2014, at the Free Methodist Church Hall, 1200 County Highway 122, Phelps Street, Gloversville.
