Audrey J. Barr, 68, of Fifth Avenue, Gloversville, died at home on Saturday, March 1, 2014.
She was born in Paterson, N.J. on January 27, 1946, a daughter of J. Robert and June Neal Barr and moved to Mayfield as a child. A 1963 graduate of Mayfield High School, Audrey later attended SUNY Cobleskill and earned an associate's degree from FMCC in 1966.
She was employed as a bookkeeper at the former Mohawk Finishing Products in Amsterdam for thirty five years and later at Proctor's in Schenectady, retiring in 2012.
Audrey was a member of the Professional Business Women's Organization. She was an avid reader, enjoyed attending Broadway shows, as well as trips to Saratoga and Foxwoods. Audrey also enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and counted cross stitch projects.
Survivors include her father, J. Robert Barr of Johnstown; a sister, Darla (Howard) Abraham of Amsterdam; and two nieces, Audrey and Heather Bell. Audrey was the beloved godmother to Claudia Cunniff, Randy Robb, and Audrey Bell.
Cremation took place at Park View Crematorium, Schenectady. A memorial service will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Robert M. Halgas Funeral Home Inc., 111 County Highway 106 (Corner of Route 29 and Black Street), Johnstown, with the Rev. James McLeod Jr. officiating. A calling hour will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Final burial will take place at the Mayfield Cemetery in the spring. Memorial contributions may be made to the United Presbyterian Church in Amsterdam, in care of the funeral home.
