Robert J. Wilbur, age 67, of Johnstown passed away on Friday, February 28, 2014, at St. Johnsville Nursing & Rehabilitation Center surrounded by his loving family.
Mr. Wilbur was born on August 15, 1946, in Gloversville, a son of the late Guy Wilbur and Sophie Prohaska Wilbur.
He was a graduate of Johnstown High School. Robert was a contractor and operated Robert J. Wilbur Builders for over 31 years. Mr. Wilbur also owned and operated the Midway Bar & Grill in Johnstown. He was of the Catholic faith and a member of Johnstown Moose, Johnstown Eagles and the Johnstown Fish & Game Club.
Robert is survived by three sons: Russell Wilbur of Rockwood, Robert (Kim) Wilbur, Jr. of Scotia and Brandon Wilbur of Johnstown; one daughter, Bridgett Wilbur of Johnstown; one brother, Arthur (Connie) Wilbur of Johnstown, four sisters: Pat (Paul) Zemanek of Boston, Massachusetts, Eva (Dave) VanAlstyne of Fonda, Carolyn (Walt) Gannon of Gloversville and Betty (Larry) Schneider of Perth; and several grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, March 4, at the Barter & Donnan Funeral Home, 1 N. Melcher St., Johnstown.
Visitation for family and friends will be on Tuesday prior to the service from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
Spring interment will be in Fort Plain Cemetery.
