Girls Basketball Roundup: Lady Braves lose to Sabres, 51-45

CROPSEYVILLE - Hailee Metzold scored 22 points, leading Schalmont to a 51-45 win over Fonda-Fultonville in the quarterfinals of the Section II Class B girls basketball tournament Saturday.

The fourth-seeded Sabres outscored the fifth-seeded Lady Braves 33-27 in the second half to earn the win.

It was the third win in as many meetings with Fonda-Fultonville for Schalmont this season.

Schalmont won 52-54 at FFCS on Dec. 13, and 53-44 at home on Feb. 4 to sweep the two regular-season meetings between the Colonial Council rivals.

Casey Daversa finished with nine points for the Sabres, while Ryanne Olsen had eight points.

Emily Parslow scored 23 points to lead Fonda-Fultonville, while Julianna Taylor added eight points.

Schalmont (14-6 overall) will face top-seeded Tamarac in the semifinals Tuesday at Troy High School at 7:30 p.m. Tamarac rolled to a 72-22 win over ninth-seeded Mechanicville on Saturday.

Fonda-Fultonville ended its season with a 14-6 overall record.

Class A Quarterfinals

Troy 67, Amsterdam 43

TROY - Kiana Patterson finished with 22 points, including five 3-pointers, lifting second-seeded Troy to a win over seventh-seeded Amsterdam in the Section II Class A quarterfinals.

The Flying Horses led 9-7 after one quarter, but outscored the Lady Rams 42-20 in the second and third quarters to seal the win.

Troy also won both regular-season contests between the Big 10 rivals, posting a 56-45 win over Amsterdam on Dec. 13 and a 61-29 win at home on Jan. 23.

Alliyah Gillespie scored 20 points for Troy, while Mary Pattison added 10.

Kaitlyn Devine scored 12 points to lead Amsterdam, while Nina Fedullo added nine.

Troy (14-5 overall) will face third-seeded Queensbury in Tuesday's semifinals at Colonie High School at 6 p.m.

Queensbury posted a 59-44 win over sixth-seeded Scotia-Glenville in a quarterfinal contest Saturday.

Amsterdam ended its season with a 10-10 overall record.
