Thelma Martin Bongiovanni

Mrs. Thelma Martin Bongiovanni, age 89, died Monday, February 17, 2014, at Wetumpka Health and Rehabilitation Center in Wetumpka, Alabama.

She was born September 17, 1924, in Mayfield, NY, the daughter of the late Fred and Laura Blanchard Martin. She lived in New Jersey for about 20 years, then in Gloversville and in Alabama for the past 22 years.

Thelma was a volunteer for the American Red Cross in New York and in Alabama. She was active in the Methodist churches in her communities and a Senior Citizen Center in Alabama.

She is survived by six children, Pam Jackson (Lanny) of Gloversville, Sandy Gates of Broadalbin, Terry Burgess of Gloversville, Shelly Davis (Ken) of Eclectic, Alabama, Penny Bongiovanni of Eclectic, Alabama and Roseann VanHorne of Gloversville; a sister, Betty Hoag of Lowville, NY; and 10 grandchildren.

Thelma was predeceased by her husband, Louis Bongiovanni, on June 16, 1993; and also by a sister, Wanda Pfister.

The family will receive relatives and friends from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, February 23rd at Jeffords & Stewart Funeral Home, 85 W. Main St., Broadalbin, NY, where a funeral service will follow at 3:00 p.m.

Interment will take place in the spring at Broadalbin Union Rural Cemetery, Broadalbin.
