Lady Raiders secure conference championship

SARANAC LAKE - The Fulton-Montgomery Community College women's basketball team locked up the Mountain Valley Conference championship Wednesday with a 79-65 victory over North Country Community College.

With the victory the Lady Raiders, ranked 10th in the NJCAA D-III rankings, improved their conference record to 12-1 for sole possession of the league title.

Monae Abrams paced FMCC with 26 points, while Kassandra Flowers chipped in with 14.

The Lady Raiders will return to action Wednesday with a 5 p.m. game at Hudson Valley Community College.

In the second game of the double-header, the FMCC men fell to North Country, 86-77.

FMCC stayed close to the Saints through the first half, before North Country pulled away in the second half to secure the 86-77 victory.

Kadeem Stanislas led FMCC with 22 points, while Khaleeq Baum and Kyle Giddings added 10 points apiece.

The Raiders will host Clintin Community College Saturday with a 3 p.m. tip off slated.
