By The Leader-Herald (sports@leaderherald.com) , The Leader Herald

SARATOGA SPRINGS - Unlike the last two postseason tournaments, the Gloversville Dragons were not awarded a home game in the opening round of the Section II Class A postseason tournament.

Instead the Section II committee awarded the 14-4 Dragons the third seed and a first round bye, advancing Gloversville to the tournament quarterfinals on Feb. 23 at Hudson Valley Community College.

The Dragons were the highest seed of the nine local boys teams entering postseason play.

Gloversville is joined in the Class A tournament by the Amsterdam Rams, while the Broadalbin-Perth Patriots, Johnstown Sir Bills and Fonda-Fultonville Braves will vie for the Class B title. Canajoharie and Fort Plain will challenge in the Class C brackets, while Northville and Oppenheim-Ephratah/St. Johnsville will battle in the Class D bracket.

Gloversville will face the victor of Wednesday's opening round game between No. 6 Quensbury and No. 11 Bishop Gibbons at 2:30 p.m. on Feb. 23.

The Dragons' quarterfinal game at HVCC is preceeded by the quarterfinal game between No. 4 Averill Park and No. 5 Amsterdam. Both advanced on first-round byes.
