ST. JOHNSVILLE - An Ephratah man was charged with petit larceny and trespassing after stealing wood stove pellets.

Scott Hill, 31, of Route 29, was charged by the St. Johnsville Police Department Thursday night for four counts of petit larceny and four counts of trespassing. Village police arrested Hill on Hough Street in St. Johnsville after a short chase that began when an officer interrupted him in the process of stealing a bag of wood stove pellets.

Hill allegedly entered a business property on four separate occasions and stole heating pellets. The Montgomery County Sheriff's office assisted with the arrest.

Hill was arraigned before Justice Bruce R. Dye and remanded to county jail in lieu of $500 bail.
