NORTHVILLE - The first Northville Winter Festival will be held Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on the village's Little Lake.
According to a news release, the event will feature a variety of activities, including ice fishing, hockey and ice skating.
Access to the festival will be near Water Street, near the Northville Spillway and at the Orendaga.
Ice skating and hockey will be offered at the BCON skating rink at the corner of Bridge and Main streets in the village, with pond hockey scheduled from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., with open skating starting at 1 p.m.
Dog sled rides, mini golf, turkey bowling and a vintage snowmobile show will be held, with a food court with chili prepared by local restaurants running throughout the day.
Demonstrations of ice fishing will be held at 10 a.m., noon and 2 p.m., along with a local Boy Scout troop demonstrating winter camping. The American Rocket Team will present rocket demonstrations at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., while the Mayfield cross-country ski team will demonstrate its abilities at noon. The Northville Edinburg Little League will host a whiffle ball game on the ice at 2 p.m., with everyone welcome to play, according to the group's Facebook page.
The Sacandaga Valley Arts Network will close the day with a concert featuring The Revival Old Time Bluegrass Gospel Band with Pam and Lenny Broiles at 4 p.m. at the BCON corner.
Visitors are encouraged to bring skates, skis, snowshoes, toboggans or ideas with them, the release said.
The event is the result of collaboration between local organizations and community groups in and around the village, the release said.
In the release, Northville Merchants Association President Michael Intrabartola said preparations for the event recieved great community support.
"We expect families and visitors to have an exciting time with the daylong events and activities we have planned," Intrabartola said in the release.
