Beatrice M. Beyer

Mrs. Beatrice M. Beyer, of Thayer Road, town of Florida, died peacefully on Sunday, February 2, 2014, at home surrounded by her family. She was 91.

A lifelong area resident, Beatrice was born on July 4, 1922, the daughter of the late Martin and Beatrice Brown Paro. She was a 1939 graduate of the former Wilbur H. Lynch High School. Beatrice later attended Mildred Elley Business School.

On September 14, 1940, she was united in marriage to Ernest L. Beyer. Together for 63 years they raised a family and together ran the Beyer Farm. Sadly, he died on January 9, 2003. She was also predeceased by her daughter, Jean Griffiths.

Beatrice was a woman dedicated to her family, raising five children. She enjoyed gardening, canning, cooking, sewing and crocheting. For 15 years she worked as a sales representative for Niagara Therapy Equipment achieving top sales for numerous years. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Survivors include four children, Jane (Edgar) Rada of Amsterdam, Diane Beyer of town of Florida, Doreen (Glenn) Marcucio of Hagaman and Douglas Beyer of town of Florida; two brothers, Martin Paro of Florida, Gordon (Carm) Paro of Amsterdam; one sister, Audrey Reichel of Amsterdam; 19 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and extended members of the Brooks, Beyer and Paro Families.

Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, February 6, 2014, at 5 p.m. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, with the Rev. Dr. John Califano presiding. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the family following the service until 7 p.m. Interment will take place on Friday, February 7, 2014, at 2 p.m. at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Beyer's name to the Town of Florida Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 128, Amsterdam, NY 12010.
