Mrs. Margaret E. Shibley, age 79, of Johnstown, died Wednesday morning, January 29, 2014, at Nathan Littauer Hospital, Gloversville.
She was born February 24, 1934, in Toddsville, Otsego County, the daughter of the late Howard and Katherine Davenport Krofft. She was a graduate of Hartwick High School and the former Gloversville School of Practical Nursing.
Margaret was employed by the former Swears Glove Company and Mario Papa and Sons. She worked as an LPN at Nathan Littauer Hospital and the Fulton County Infirmary, where she retired from in 1993.
She was married to Norman Cook in 1953. He died in 1974. She married David A. Shibley in 1974. He died in 2002.
Survivors include two daughters, Joanne Maxon and Rise Owen, both of Virginia; a sister, Mary Jane MacVean (Robert) of Johnstown; 23 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Also surviving are seven stepchildren, Joyce Webber, David E. Shibley, Suzanne Claus, Brian Shibley, John Shibley, Amie Brand and Maria Roll.
She was also predeceased by her son, William Cook; and three sisters, Nellie Samsel, Dorcas Price and Wanita Sardelli.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Friday, January 31, 2014, at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St., Gloversville, where funeral services will follow at 12:00 p.m., with the Rev. Dr. R. W. Williams officiating.
Interment will take place at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gloversville. Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to Mountain Valley Hospice, 108 Steele Avenue, Gloversville, NY 12078.
