Marion D. Robertson

Marion D. Robertson, 93, of Gloversville, N.Y., passed away peacefully on January 26, 2013, with her loving family and wonderful caregiver by her side. She was a former parishioner of St Mary's R.C. Church in Amsterdam. She was a lifelong area resident.

Marion was born March, 28, 1920, to the late Raymond and Essie Davies in Amsterdam, N.Y. She was trained in switchboard operations by NY Telephone Co. Marion worked over 20 years with Niagara Mohawk Co. as a dispatcher and was the first female dispatcher in Fulton and Montgomery counties. On October, 25, 1941, she was united in marriage to David G. Robertson, who predeceased her in February of 2005. Marion was once very active with the St. Mary's Hospital Auxiliary and Century Club. She also enjoyed taking trips with her husband to the beaches in Maine and Cape Cod.

Survivors include her son, Raymond D. Robertson of Lyons, Colorado; daughters, Cheryl M. Dybas (Curtis) of Lake George and Karen Bazan of Amsterdam, whose husband Joseph predeceased her in 1998; her sister, Diana Costello of Amsterdam; her beloved grandchildren, Christopher, Renee, Matthew, and Todd; her great-grandchildren, Alison and Joey Bazan, Olivia, Collin and Lillian Dybas. Several nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.

She was predeceased by her parents, Raymond Davies and Essie Costello Davies; and her stepmother, Marion Davies.

Family and friends are invited to attend a calling period from 4:00 to 5:00 on Wednesday, January 29, 2014, at Betz, Rossi, & Bellinger Family Funeral Home. A funeral service will immediately follow calling hours at 5:00 p.m. with the Rev. Dr. R.W. Williams to officiate. A private interment will take place in St. Mary's Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made in Marion's memory to Mountain Valley Hospice, 108 Steele Ave. Ext., Gloversville, N.Y. 12078.
