Dane Douglas Van Slyke of San Francisco, CA, went home to be with the Lord on December 21, 2013. He was 50. He was born in Gloversville, New York, on August 11, 1963. He attended schools in Gloversville and Merrimack, N.H. A unique soul, Dane enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and spending time with family and friends. He will be greatly missed.
Dane is survived by his son, Devaughn Eady of Atlanta, Georgia; his mother, Sandra M. Van Slyke, his brothers, Curtis Van Slyke, Jason Van Slyke, all of Nashua, N.H.; sister and brother-in-law, Catherine and Eugene Colson of Nashua, N.H.; and sister, Andrea Van Slyke of Charlotte, N.C. He is also survived by his aunts, Barbara Stratton of Gloversville and Connie Richardson of Schenectady; uncles, Marcus Van Slyke of Gloversville, Carl Mc Neal of Lawrenceburg, Tenn.; two great-aunts, Leona Miller, Francis Springfield, both of Schenectady, N.Y. Dane had several nieces, nephews and cousins; one great-niece and one great-nephew; a very special friend, Claurice Barksdale of Glovesville. Dane was predeceased by his father, Morris Van Slyke Jr.; his grandmother, Catherine Robinson; grandfather, Morris Van Slyke Sr.; aunt, Terry Mc Neal.
His memorial service is organized by family and friends and will be held at AME Zion Church, 135 East Fulton St. in Gloversville, N.Y., on February 1, 2014, at 2 p.m.
