The Leader Herald

BROADALBIN - The Broadalbin Senior Citizens met Jan. 15, with 52 in attendance. The guests, Maureen and Alan Mikucki were welcomed, as well as Doris Horton, Judy Feldman, and Sandy Blodgett.

Before the Office for the Aging luncheon, Mary Peck, chaplain, read a reading and led the group in reciting "The Lord's Prayer." The Pledge of Allegiance was also recited.

Vice President June Zea read the roll call.

Nancy Weiss, secretary, read last month's notes.

For sunshine, Ruth Lee gave an update on sick members.

Eleanor Merritt read the birthdays for January. "Happy Birthday" was sung.

Donna Chambers, program charman, noted the correspondence she sent out. She sent around a list of duties for cleanup committees for the year and also a signup sheet for members who would be available to make cookies, etc. for future parties and events. Chambers read the following: A list of previous party events and speakers the group had in 2013; what is set up so far for this year; and the financial report for 2013 for program fund for audit.

The next meeting will be Wednesday and will be a penny sale to benefit the Christmas party this year. Each person attending is to bring slightly used or new articles for the sale (no clothing).

Toni Hallenbeck, trip chairman, noted some future trips they are working on for this year. When completed, they will give the members a list. There is a trip in February to see "Sister Act" at Proctors. Contact Hallenbeck if interested.

An audit committee was set up to audit financial records for 2013: Marge Gundersen, Gerry Collins and Evelyn McSpirit.

Volunteers to work on this year's Christmas party: Pat Ryfa, Nancy McWilliams, Gundersen and Elaine Austro. The nominating committee: Ryfa, McWilliams, Gundersen and Sue Crawford.

Liz Feulner was the raffle winner.

On cleanup for this meeting were Mary Lou and Fred Wilcox.

The president is compiling a new list of members. Anyone who has not confirmed their name and address with Hallenbeck should do so.

If interested in the OFA luncheon for next week's meeting, reservations must be made in advance and cancelations if unable to attend.

Robert Montenaro read a hurorous reading to the group.
