Officer’s case goes to County Court

JOHNSTOWN - The case of a city police officer accused of the statutory rape of a 16-year-old girl was transferred from City Court to Fulton County Court.

City Patrolman Adam Schwabrow, 32, was due to reappear in City Court on Thursday, but a court spokeswoman said the case was transferred to County Court.

A County Court spokeswoman said the next appearance for the case is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Feb. 11 before Acting County Court Judge Peter Feldstein of Hamilton County.

Schwabrow was charged Sept. 19 by his police department with felony third-degree rape, commonly known as statutory rape. He is accused of having sexual contact with the girl sometime over the past year and a half. He faces1 1/3 to four years in state prison and is free on $5,000 cash bail. He is suspended with pay. Lawyers involved say the case may be headed to a plea arrangement.
