Carmella J. Basileo, age 93, a lifelong resident of Gloversville, N.Y., passed away on Tuesday, January 14, 2014, at the Nathan Littauer Hospital in Gloversville after a brief illness. She was born in Gloversville on September 20, 1920, the daughter of the late Frank and Filomena Lauria Basileo. Carmella attended Gloversville schools. She was employed by the St. Thomas Leather Corp. of Gloversville as a leather stitcher. Carmella was of the Catholic faith and a member of the Church of the Holy Spirit of Gloversville and its women's society.
She is survived by two brothers, Victor and Arthur Basileo of Gloversville; and nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Monday, January 20, 2014, at the Church of the Holy Spirit, Gloversville, N.Y. Spring interment will take place in the Mount Carmel Cemetery, Johnstown, N.Y. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice.
