The Leader Herald

Mr. William Tyrrell, 77, of Gloversville, passed away January 13, 2014, at Ellis Hospital following a long illness. He was born June 10, 1936, in Gloversville, son of the late George and Elizabeth Dwyer Tyrrell. Mr. Tyrrell was educated in Berkshire schools and served in the Air Force from 1956-1959. Early in life, Bill enjoyed drag racing at Fonda Speedway and continued to enjoy the sport as his son and especially his grandson, raced as well. Bill also loved bingo and casino travels. Although disabled in a motorcycle accident years ago, Bill was a hard worker and had been employed in the leather business most of his life, retiring from the former Carville Leather as a supervisor. He was a member of the VFW in Gloversville and a lifelong animal lover, always accepting strays and refusing to turn away any animal.
