Mrs. Cora A. McCloskey, age 71, of Benson, NY, passed away peacefully with her family at her side on Saturday evening, January 11, 2014, at Mountain Valley Hospice, Gloversville.
She was born May 28, 1942, in Benson, the daughter of the late Grant and Alice Waite Blowers. A lifelong Benson resident, she was a singer in The Western Aces country western band which performed at local establishments and each Sunday on WIZR Radio. She loved going to the ocean in Maine and spending time with her family as she cooked for them.
Cora is survived by: her daughter, Donna Deming of Benson; her brother, Floyd Blowers (Angeline Piazza) of Amsterdam; two sisters, Gloria Mesick of Northampton and Charlene Dunham of Hope; two grandchildren, Jason M. Berry and Kayla Deming; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by both of her husbands: John C. Berry, who died June 23, 1984, and Lawrence R. McCloskey, who died December 26, 2013. Her son, Christopher G. Berry, died this past Friday, January 10, 2014. She was also predeceased by two brothers and two sisters, Loren Blowers, Robert Blowers, Lorraine Markiewicz and Lillian Bell.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, January 14th, at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St., Gloversville, where a funeral service will follow at 6:00 p.m., with the Rev. Richard C. Klueg officiating.
Interment will take place in the spring at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Northville. Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to Mountain Valley Hospice, 108 Steele Avenue, Gloversville, NY 12078.
