Woman took wallet, police say

BROADALBIN - A woman was arrested Jan. 1 after taking a wallet, state police said.

Maurissa N.?Dennis, 25, of Amsterdam was charged with fourth-degree grand larceny, a felony, third-degree assault, second-degree aggravated harassment and unlawful possession of marijuana.

Police said a trooper responded to a reported domestic dispute in town. The complaintant said her girlfriend, Dennis, became irate because she had not returned home, police said. The complaintant said Dennis then became involved in a physical altercation with her mother, police said.

According to police, the complaintant said Dennis had become physical with her, and she suffered from multiple cuts and bruises to her arms and legs. She said when?Dennis was leaving, she grabbed her pocketbook and left in her vehicle, police said.

Police said a trooper retrieved the pocketbook after it was found in the roadway in the town of Galway. The woman went through her pocketbook and found the wallet containing her credit card was not inside, police said.

Police said a trooper called Dennis, who stated she was at a friend's house and would wait outside for authorities to arrive. The trooper arrived at the house, took Dennis into custody and found she had the wallet, police said.

According to police, Dennis consented to a search of her vehicle. The trooper found a prescription bottle containing about 1 gram of "burnt marijuana residue," police said.

Dennis was arraigned and sent to the Fulton?County Jail.?She was scheduled to reappear in court.
