Supervisors eye appointments

January 11, 2014
By MICHAEL ANICH , The Leader Herald

JOHNSTOWN - The Fulton County Board of Supervisors has a light agenda for its first meeting of the year Monday, mostly appointments and reappointments of agency and board members for 2014.

The meeting begins at 1 p.m. in the Supervisor's Chambers at the County Office Building.

County Administrative Officer Jon Stead said Friday the county doesn't like to start the year by handling too much government business - unless it is an emergency - until after the standing committees meet for the first time in late January. He said Monday's agenda of 23 resolutions is typical.

"That's our standard fare and then we get back into the committee schedule," Stead said.

Outside of proposed resolutions. The board will issue one proclamation. A proclamation will be issued commending former, longtime Fulton County Industrial Development Agency Treasurer Francis Reed of Johnstown for his service to economic development. Reed, a former Johnstown mayor, retired Dec. 31 from his IDA service.

In proposed resolutions, the board will consider 2014 appointments to various agencies and groups related to economic development. They are: Fulton County Planning Board, Fulton County IDA, Fish and Wildlife Management Board, Adirondack Park Local Government Review Board, Fulton County Soil and Water Conservation District, Fulton County Agricultural and Farmland Protection Board, and Greater Sacandaga Lake Advisory Council.

Other groups the board is slated to make appointments to include: Fulton County Youth Advisory Board, Fulton County Community Services Board, Fulton County Ethics Board, and several public safety-related appointments, such as 2014 deputy fire coordinators.

Robert Roth is slated to be reappointed to the Capital District Off-Track Betting Corp. board of directors.
