Factors in crash still unknown

January 7, 2014

CAROGA -Possible contributing factors aren't known yet in a New Year's Day morning crash that killed a Johnstown driver.

Fulton County Sheriff Thomas Lorey said Monday he won't know whether alcohol was a factor in the crash involving 42-year-old Brian Passero until tests come back. The sheriff's office said Passero was killed when his vehicle struck a tree at 2:46 a.m. Wednesday on Route 10, near Glasgow Road. He was the vehicle's only occupant.

"He died of injuries sustained in the accident,' county Coroner Margaret Luck said Monday. She attended Passero's autopsy last week.

Luck said it won't be determined if alcohol or any other substance was a factor in the crash until a pending toxicology report comes back.
