AMSTERDAM - The 2012 and 2013 Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League champion Amsterdam Mohawks have announced the signing of two pitchers for the 2014 season.
Thomas Hackimer of St. Johns University and Ryan Clark from North Carolina-Greensboro have both agreed to join the Mohawks next summer.
The Mohawks will be seeking their third straight championship and fifth in the last six years.
Hackimer was the closer at St. Johns in his 2013 freshman season. He led the team with eight saves and had a 3.91 ERA in a team leading 31 appearances. Hackimer hails from Floral Park.
Clark, a Johnson City native, served as a relief pitcher at UNC-Greensboro last spring in his freshman season where he made the Southern Conference All-Freshman Team. He had a miniscule 2.05 ERA and a 5-1 record in a team leading 26 appearances. Last summer, he played in the NYCBL and was rated their second-best professional prospect. The 6'4" right hander, who features a fastball that clocks consistently in the low 90s, is expected to be one of the top starting pitchers for the Hornets this coming spring.
The Mohawks open their season June 5.
