Herbert W. Hey

Herbert W. Hey, 74, died on Friday, December 20, 2013, in Northville, NY. Born in Poughkeepsie on August 10, 1939, he was the son of Emery J. and Edith Rosalind Heidt Hey.

Herbert studied accounting and worked at the telephone company and as a tax preparer. He also farmed for many years. Most recently, he was a builder and will be remembered for the beautiful homes he built in and around the Rhinebeck and Germantown areas.

He retired to Northville, NY on Lake Sacandaga, where he could pursue his lifetime passions of fishing and gardening. Those who knew him will miss his sense of humor, cooking, flowers and veggies from his garden. He also had a great love for his country, politics and the Constitution.

He is survived by his sister, Harriet H. Fetterly of North Wales, Pa.; his four nieces and nephews, Linda Zedalis and husband Brian, Diane Jebran and husband Charles, Charles Fetterly and wife Larisa and John Fetterly and wife Meg; nine grandnieces and nephews; and one great-grandniece.

Graveside funeral services were held at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery in the family plot with the Rev. Tom Hartley presiding.
