Families receive food for holidays

January 2, 2014
The Leader Herald

GLOVERSVILLE - One-hundred families in need were each set to receive a box of food after a special delivery last month at the Community Food Pantry at Park Terrace Elementary School.

The 100 boxes, which are filled with food staples - such as pasta, rice and soup - were provided by the Hannaford Supermarket in the town of Johnstown after shoppers purchased and donated them for $10 each.

Janice Blodgett, family and community educator for the Gloversville Enlarged?School District, accepted the donation from the store's General Manager Carl Tambasco and Assistant Store Manager Bob Galusha in?December.

The Community Food Pantry at Park Terrace, which is open to anyone in the district, serves an average of 150 local families a month, Blodgett said in information from the district.

Non-perishable food and monetary donations are welcome at the Community Food Pantry at Park Terrace. Checks should be made payable to the Gloversville Enlarged School District Outreach Fund.

For more information, call Blodgett at 775-5740, ext. 4104.
