Virginia ‘Virgie’ Palombo Kulpa

Virginia "Virgie" Palombo Kulpa, 80, of Division Street, Amsterdam, NY, passed away Tuesday morning December 31, 2013, with her loving family by her side.

Born in Amsterdam on September 1, 1933, she was proud to be the daughter of her mother and father, past Amsterdam Fire Department Chief, Samuel and Olimbia Noviano Palombo.

Virgie received her education in the Amsterdam school system and was a graduate of Wilbur H. Lynch High School, Class of 1951.

She was employed for 23 years as an assembler at Coleco Industries in Amsterdam.

Virgie was a former parishioner and communicant of St. Michael the Archangel Church, and most recently of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church.

Her husband, Joseph G. Kulpa to whom she was married to June 1, 1985, passed away on January 4, 2000.

Virgie is survived by her sister-in-law, Norma Palombo of Amsterdam, NY; one nephew, Michael Palombo (Donna) of Tribes Hill, NY; and one niece, Carrie Palombo (Tony) of Johnstown, NY. Several cousins also survive.

Virgie was predeceased by her brother, Carl Palombo; and her infant sister, Dolores Palombo.

Funeral services will be held Saturday morning at 10:30 at the Riley Mortuary Inc., 110 Division Street, Amsterdam, NY, followed at 11:00 by a Mass of Christian burial which will be celebrated at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, St. John Street, Amsterdam.

Interment will follow at St Michael the Archangel Cemetery in Amsterdam.

Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Riley Mortuary from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. prior to the services.
