Ella Mae Duross Oxford, 76, of Johnstown, N.Y., passed away peacefully on Dec. 29, 2013, at Ellis Hospital, Schenectady, N.Y. Mrs. Oxford was born Feb. 11, 1937, in Rockwood, N.Y., the daughter of Albert and Pauline Baker Duross. She was a 1954 graduate of Johnstown High School and served as class treasurer until the present. For many years, she was employed at the Fulton County Public Health Office as an account clerk. For over 40 years, Mrs. Oxford owned and operated, with her husband, Shuler and Duross Antiques in Johnstown. Mrs. Oxford taught courses in antiques at F.M.C.C. and conducted many estate sales in the area. She was a member of Foothills United Methodist Church.
Ella Mae is survived by her husband, Richard L. Oxford, whom she married in 1956. She is also survived by her son, David D. (Colleen Farnan) Oxford of Saratoga Springs, N.Y.; her sister, Iona Farrar of Johnstown; her brother, Albert Donald Duross of Johnstown; nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Ehle Funeral Home, 15 N. William St., Johnstown, NY, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday. Cremation took place at Vale Crematory, Schenectady, N.Y. Interment will be in Saratoga National Cemetery.
