GLOVERSVILLE - Two city men were charged Saturday with stealing several large bags of recyclable cans from a homeowner's garage on Prospect Avenue, police said.

Clarence A. Hayes Jr., 31, of 112 N. Main St., and Michael J. Snell, 45, of 105 N. Arlington Ave., were charged with petit larceny, a misdemeanor.

Police said both were charged after an investigation concluded they had removed several large bags of empty cans from a garage.

The two were confronted by the homeowner, but they refused to return the property and were later located by police on North Main Street, where they were arrested, police said.

Both were arraigned in City Court.
