Gates keep driveways clean

December 29, 2013
The Leader Herald

Regarding the "cheer" on zero tolerance concerning snow removal: There is no need for plow operators to leave berms at driveways or sidewalks.

Our community uses road graders in teams of two or three to plow the streets. The graders are equipped with gates that are lowered when driveways or sidewalks are encountered, then raised to resume full plowing when clear of driveways.

Very seldom or ever do residents have to clear any berms left from plowing our streets. My residential street is being cleared as I write. I have no berm where my walk and driveway intersect the street.
