Joan A. Rauer, 79, formerly of Bridge Street, Broadalbin, died Friday morning, December 27, 2013, at the Mountain Valley Hospice House in Gloversville.
She was born in Gloversville on January 16, 1934, a daughter of Harrison and Beatrice Lair Ormill, and was a 1952 graduate of Gloversville High School. Mrs. Rauer resided in Broadalbin since 1969.
Joan was employed at the former Collette's Adult Home in Broadalbin. Later, she worked as a caregiver for several families.
Joan was happiest spending time with those she loved. She delighted in her grandchildren and was forever making memories for them. One of her favorite things was holiday decorating, especially for the Christmas season.
She was married to Richard Rauer, the true love of her life, on October 19, 1957. They had a special love that served as an inspiration to their children because they were so deeply and so completely devoted to each other. Often times, they would be waltzing in the kitchen to a favorite song, exemplifying romance at its finest. Sadly, Dick died November 19, 2009.
Survivors include three daughters: Sharon Levine of Roseland, N.J.; Deborah Lair of Gloversville; and Lori Stevens of Piscataway, N.J.; and four grandchildren: Jessica, Stephanie, Jonathan and Jeremy.
