Amsterdam teen faces assault charge

December 26, 2013
The Leader Herald

GLOVERSVILLE - An Amsterdam teen was released from Montgomery County Jail on Christmas Eve and immediately picked up by the city police department on multiple warrants, including two felony counts related to an incident in which he destroyed his significant other's property, police said.

Isaiah A. Allen, 19, of 26 Clark St., Amsterdam, was released from the Montgomery County Jail and arrested by the city police department on three active arrest warrants from different incidents in the city.

Capt. John Sira said one warrant stemming from a domestic violence incident in September brought two counts of third-degree criminal mischief, a felony, third-degree assault and second-degree reckless endangerment.

Sira said Allen smashed his girlfriend's iPhone and then grabbed a piece of asphalt and threw it at her car, causing damage to the passenger door. Sira said the charges were on the felony level because of the value of both the items.

He said the other two warrants were related to a second-degree criminal contempt charge for failing to appear for vehicle and traffic law offenses and third-degree attempted assault.

Allen was processed and held for arraignment.
