Colonial Stroll, tree lighting was magical

December 21, 2013
The Leader Herald

And a wonderful time was had by all. The Johnstown Colonial Stroll and Tree Lighting on Dec. 6 was made possible through the efforts of so many, it is hard to know where to begin to say thank you, but I will try.

The entertainment provided by the Dreamcatchers, the Living Nativity by New Covenant Community Church, music by our DJ, Rich Nice Entertainment, horse-drawn carriage rides at Johnson Hall by FritzAnn Farm, the lighting of our Christmas tree by Mayor Sarah Slingerland, the Town Crier (aka Scott Jeffers) face painting by Alexia Berry, Angie Smith, Julie Holmes (and friend), and the arrival of the important guest of the evening - Santa Claus (aka Paul Christman) - accompanied by his two elves, Adam Denmark and Kelly Tran, all set the stage for a magical night. We thank our downtown businesses that stayed open, served refreshments and celebrated with everyone.

All of this would not have been possible without the support of our sponsors: Brett Preston, George Slingerland, Clark Easterly Jr., Jacqueline Swatt, Yvonne Major, Judith Swatt, Michael Mongin, Virginia Easterly, Attorney Gerard McAuliffe Jr., Attorney Arthur Spring, The Hair Affair, Palmer Pharmacy, Johnstown Restaurant Supply, Letter Memorial, R&A Waite Inc., Dr. DiSanto-Rose, Something Special, Friends of Johnson Hall and Fage Inc.

Thank you to Johnson Hall and the Johnstown Historical Society for their participation. Special thanks to Chandra Cotter and the Department of Public Works for the beautiful new decorations in the park, the Johnstown Police Department, Johnstown Fire Department, and Cathy VanAlstyne and the entire T/SE committee that worked to return the Colonial Stroll to our wonderful city. If I forgot anyone, I apologize. We appreciated everyone who took the time to help, and especially those of you who attended.

We will be back next year - bigger and even better.

HELEN MARTIN
