Richard Morris Frasier

Richard Morris Frasier, 84, of Johnstown, passed away on Wednesday morning, December 18, 2013, at home with his loving family by his side after a long and courageous battle with prostate cancer.

Born on January 8, 1929, in Perth, he was the son of the late Daniel C. and Agnes L. (Edwards) Frasier.

Richard was a 1947 graduate of Perth School and worked as an insurance salesman until he became employed with General Electric Company in Schenectady. He worked for GE for over 28 years, retiring as a boring mill operator in the Steam Turbine Division.

Mr. Frasier was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He also enjoyed working the land with his tractors and raising gladiolas.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Sondra (Bump) Frasier, whom he married on November 19, 1955; four children, Mark Frasier of Johnstown, David Frasier of Johnstown, Gail (Chris) Hammond of Schenectady and Carol (Joseph) Ellis of Johnstown; one brother, Leonard (Anne) Frasier of Perth; four grandchildren, Roxanne Hammond, Kyle Hammond, Melissa Ellis and Robert Ellis; along with sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Besides his parents, Richard was predeceased by his brothers, Arthur, Lawrence, Daniel, Myron and Thomas Frasier; and one sister, Lillian Herba.

In keeping with Richard's wishes, there will be no funeral services. Cremation will take place at Park View Crematory, Schenectady.

Friends and relatives are invited to pay their respects to the family on Saturday, December 21, 2013, from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Holiday Inn, Johnstown-Gloversville, 308 North Comrie Ave., Johnstown.

Contributions may be made in memory of Richard to Mountain Valley Hospice, 108 Steele Ave., Gloversville, NY 12078.

Arrangements are with Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, Gloversville.
