Man stole, sold electronics: police

December 18, 2013
The Leader Herald

AMSTERDAM - State police said a man was arrested for stealing more than $1,000 in electronic equipment.

Matthew Elder of Warrior Way, Middleburgh, was charged Friday with fourth-degree grand larceny after authorities received a larceny complaint from Target in Amsterdam.

City police officers located and stopped a vehicle that matched the one described in the complaint. State police said information from that traffic stop developed Elder as a suspect.

Police said Elder was later taken into custody by troopers when he confessed. Police said Elder stole $1,100 in electronic equipment, which he later sold in Schenectady.

He was arraigned and incarcerated in Montgomery County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 bond.
