The Leader Herald

JOHNSTOWN - State police said a Gloversville man was arrested for stealing about $38,000.

John E. Hitchcock, 27, of Gloversville was charged by state police Dec. 10 with third-degree grand larceny and first-degree falsifying business records, both felonies.

Police said his arrest happened after an investigation conducted by the state police Special Investigations Unit and Financial Crimes. According to police, Hitchcock stole about $38,000 in currency over an approximately 2-year period while he was an employee of Probuild in Johnstown. Police said Hitchcock created false credit returns to aid and conceal the larceny.

Hitchcock was arraigned in City Court and released on $1,000 cash bail.
