Peter J. Veltri, 81, of Mountain Road, Mayfield, died December 14, 2013, with family by his side, at the Albany Medical Center in Albany, NY. He was born in Brooklyn, NY on March 24, 1932, the son of the late Joseph P. and Mary Coggiano Veltri.
He was a United States Army veteran serving from 1952-1954 in the Korean Conflict. He was employed as a New York City policeman and later as a state park policeman in Saratoga. He was a devoted family man, who loved hunting, fishing and camping.
He was a member of the NRA and previous member of the Knights of Columbus.
Survivors include his wife, Ann Roberts Veltri of Mayfield; children, Lauren Pescatore (Butch Whitman) of Wells, NY, Peter J. Veltri Jr. (Melissa Baird) of Mayfield and Keith (Donna) Veltri of Fort Hunter; brother, Joseph P. (Tesha) Veltri of Pennsylvania; sister, Gerry (Joe) Van Uiter of Pennsylvania; grandchildren, Laurie-Ann, Rachel, Tammy, Ashley, Valerie and Nikki. Five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive him.
Friends may call on Friday, December 20, 2013, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Northville Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated onSaturday, December 21, 2013, at the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Northville at 11 a.m. Burial will be held in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Northville in the spring.
