Frances E. Banker, 94, of Good Samaritan Village, Kissimmee, Fla., formerly of Mayfield and Broadalbin, NY, passed away peacefully on December 15, 2013.
Frances was born February 18, 1919, to the late Wm. Krepline and Miriam Merring in Amsterdam, NY. She was married to Karl Banker in 1940 and was predeceased by their only child, Edward Banker.
Fran graduated from SUNY Cortland and taught elementary reading for 35 years at Mayfield Central School. She was a member of both the NYS and Fulton Retired Teachers Associations, as well as the Audubon Society.
A voracious reader, Fran was also an avid game player and a naturalist, who derived great pleasure in observing, recording and painting birds and flowers. Her paintings were a source of joy to others. She pursued all these interests enthusiastically till the end of her life.
Survivors include grandchildren, Kimberli Banker, Tiffani Piotrowski, Brittani Benjamin, Aaron Banker; niece, Patricia Carey Pelligra; beloved companion, Leon Barnes, and her many friends at Cypress Cove. Also surviving are nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents and son Edward, she was predeceased by her brothers, George and Donald Krepline; and sisters, Jane Parmenter and Kathryn E. (Betty) Gill.
A private interment will take place in the spring per Fran's wishes.
