This letter is to acknowledge with enthusiastic appreciation the response my local district office has experienced with the Trees for Troops project.
My office, along with local businesses, many area schools and many of the senior citizen clubs, as well as individuals, offered financial support to this project.
There is something very special about the spirit of the holiday season. Neighborhoods are transformed into lighted welcomes; people smile more, and the excitement we feel is echoed by the joy received when we can share our commitment to peace and hope with others.
This special Fulton County spirit was evident from the messages that were included with the spirited donations for trees. The live trees that are sent to the troops represent a little taste of home and holiday spirit. We feel it is a way to show respect and support to the men and women who are so far away at the holiday season. The freedoms we so often take for granted in the United States of American have been fought for and won by many men and women serving in the United States military. To be so far away from families and friends is very difficult, especially throughout the holiday season. The kind thoughtfulness being sent from folks in Fulton County is certain to make a difference in the lives of the men and women who fight for our freedom and safety each day.
The holiday season reminds us to share with others, especially soldiers who are far from home at this special time of year.
