The National Weather Service in Albany has issued a winter storm watch, which is in effect from Saturday morning through Sunday morning and could potentially bring 6 to 10 inches of snow to local communities.
A meteorologist at the National Weather Service in Albany, Ian Lee, said Fulton and Montgomery counties can expect about an inch of lake-effect snow today.
However, Lee said, on Saturday, another storm will be moving into the area that is expected to bring 6 to 10 inches in both counties between Saturday and Sunday morning.
"You will see some snow showers in the early afternoon on Saturday and it should be pretty light with about 1 to 3 inches of snow," Lee said. "Then Saturday night is when we are expecting the snow to really ramp up and continue through the night before diminishing Sunday morning."
He said the storm is expected to bring only snow with no mixture of sleet or rain.
