Drug investigation yields four arrests

FORT PLAIN - Four Montgomery County residents have been arrested by Fort Plain police after a three-month investigation into drug sales in the village.

Austin J. Kellogg, 17, of 164 Chapman Drive, Amsterdam, Eric J. Haley, 24, of 101 Otsego St., Canajoharie, Matthew S. Szewczak, 29, of 4 High St., Fort Plain, and an unnamed juvenile were charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminal sale of a controlled substance.

According to Fort Plain police, the four sold drugs to an undercover officer.

Kellogg, Szewczak and Haley were arraigned in Minden Town Court. Kellogg also was charged with criminal contempt of court for cursing at the judge during his arraignment and trying to free himself from officers escorting him.

The juvenile case is being handled in Montgomery County Family Court.
