GLOVERSVILLE - The city has appointed a new member of the Planning Board after James Handy stepped aside, a month after an unsuccessful campaign for mayor.
Matt Donde, who had been serving as an alternate member, was appointed by Mayor Dayton King to fill the term that ends in 2017.
Handy, a former councilman at large who lost an independent challenge to King in last month's election, told the city he was unable to continue his position because he would be pursuing other endeavors.
Handy had been on the Planning Board since May 2012. He didn't return phone calls seeking comment.
The city will fill Donde's former alternate seat later, King said.
