Mr. John E. Glynn Sr., 77, of Gloversville, passed away December 6, 2013, at Nathan Littauer Hospital. He was born in Fultonville on June 3, 1936, son of the late Percy and Thelma Glynn. A Navy veteran, Mr. Glynn developed a strong work ethic early in life. He worked as a machinist in the turbine department of General Electric for 45 years, was a self-employed painter and also worked at Keymark for a time. He also drove tractor trailer and was employed at the former Milt Schaber Deli and the Pit Stop. He was often seen riding his bicycle around town.
An animal lover, John was especially proud of the horses he raised. He was very interested in American Indian heritage and sports. He enjoyed Jimmy Johnson and NASCAR as well as his favorite teams which included Boston Red Sox, Denver Broncos, the Giants and Jets. He will be sadly missed by his dear family.
He is survived by his children, Jack Glynn (Wendy) of Kentucky, Jim Glynn, Jeffrey Glynn (Jennifer), Louise Glynn, all of Gloversville and Joshua Glynn (Candy) of S. Carolina. He is also survived by eighteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. John was predeceased by a son, John E. Glynn Jr.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 11, 2013, at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St., with the Reverend Christopher Hamm, pastor of North Main Street United Methodist Church officiating. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 9 to 11 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Fonda.
