Guy DePuy, 54, passed away at UVA Medical Center on Monday, November 25, 2013. He was born on December 14, 1958, in Ithaca, N.Y. to the late Hadley "Stretch" DePuy of Frederick, Md. and the late Cynthia Parker DePuy of Johnstown, N.Y.
Guy is survived by his brother, Craig (Mary) of Clemmons, N.C. and their sons, Luis and John; his sister, Allyson (Shannon) King of New York City and daughter, Sydney; and stepmother, Marianne DePuy; uncle, Robert Parker (Alice) of Muncy, Pennsylvania. Guy was a quiet, honorable man who was loyal to those he loved.
He graduated from Johnstown High School in 1977. He joined the United States Army. He served in Wiesbaden, Germany, followed by assignments at Fort Irwin, California and Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland where he received letters of merit prior to his honorable discharge in 1984. Guy returned to Fulton County, New York and was employed by Taylor Brothers. He relocated to Northern Virginia where he worked for Beuhel Electric and Walmart. Employment for PepsiCo brought him to Remington, Virginia, where he was recognized for dedication and safety on the job. During this time, Guy was a former member in the Remington Lions Club. Guy's great height, special sense of humor and gentle spirit will be remembered at the elementary schools for which he worked, Thompson Elementary and Greenville Elementary.
Guy appreciated simple pleasures. He loved fishing and quiet times spent enjoying nature. He was also a movie buff.
Memorial services will be held at Teague Funeral Home in Charlottesville, Va. on December 21, 2013, at 2 p.m.
