Boys Basketball Roundup: Cannoneers slip past Braves

FONDA - Ty'Jon Gilmore finished with 15 points to lead Watervliet to a 35-33 win over Fonda-Fultonville on Friday in the Colonial Council opener for both teams.

The Cannoneers led 16-10 at the half before holding off a second-half rally by the Braves.

Cam Ives and Will Turner each finished with 11 points to lead Fonda-Fultonville (0-3 overall, 0-1 Colonial). Luke Calkins added six point for the Braves.

It was the first game of the season for Watervliet.

NORTHVILLE - Evan Pescetti scored 23 points to power Saratoga Central Catholic to a Western Athletic Conference North Division win over Northville.

Keegan Murphy added 11 points for the Saints (4-0 overall, 2-0 WAC North), who jumped out to a 20-9 lead after one quarter.

David Onzo and Nick Jonas each scored nine points to lead Northville (2-1 overall, 1-1 WAC North). Danny Reidell added eight points for the Falcons.

SCHENECTADY - Keishaun Wheelings and Tobias Holmes each finished with 18 points, leading Schenectady to a Big 10 win over Amsterdam.

Randall Symes scored 10 points for Schenectady (1-1 overall, 1-1 Big 10), which outscored the Rams 34-19 in the second half to earn the win.

Eric Robershaw scored 16 points to lead Amsterdam (1-1 overall, 1-1 Big 10), while Kory Bergh added 11 points.
