Kenneth H. Mildern, 66, of Smith Road, Amsterdam, died at home on Thursday morning, December 5, 2013.
He was born in Gloversville on September 13, 1947, a son of Herbert W. and Agnes Ryfa Mildern and was a 1965 graduate of Perth Central School. Ken graduated from FMCC in 1967 and later enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he proudly served from 1968 until 1974.
Mr. Mildern was employed as a computer technician with IBM for twenty nine years, retiring in 1997 from the Kingston location.
He was of the Protestant faith.
Ken was a member of the Perth Volunteer Fire Department and served as chief for several years. He enjoyed bowling and spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include a sister, Gail L. Horton of Amsterdam; five nieces, Hope Krohn, Faith MacLean, Charity Poultney, and Lisa and Jackie Horton; and five nephews, Clayton, Michael, Matthew, Shane, and Josuha Horton.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday at 1 p.m. at the Robert M. Halgas Funeral Home Inc., 111 County Highway 106 (Corner of Route 29 and Black Street) Johnstown, with Rev. Dr. R.W. Williams officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Perth Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Saturday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Perth Volunteer Fire Department or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, both in care of the funeral home.
