Mr. Timothy R. "Tim" Caponera, age 60, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, December 1, 2013.
Born in Little Falls on April 13, 1953, Timothy was the son of the late Anthony R. and Winifred (MacIntyre) Caponera. He was raised and educated in Leesville and graduated from Sharon Springs Central School. He furthered his studies and was proud to have received an associate's degree in business administration from Morrisville Community College.
Tim was employed for many years with Sharon Orchards and then worked in the maintenance department for the Beechnut Corp. in Canajoharie. In 2007 he relocated to the Utica area and it was there that he began a relationship with Kimberly Armstrong. They shared many wonderful times together along with her children to whom he was a wonderful father figure.
Tim was a compassionate man, always addressing the needs of others. His intelligence allowed him to teach himself over the years to repair and create almost anything. He appreciated the cuisine of his Italian heritage and especially enjoyed cooking and baked goods. His affection for children was evident as he was sensitive in his communication with them. He was a good example of kindness, always giving great advice. Tim could often be seen supporting "the kids" sporting events. A baseball enthusiast, he was a fan of the Baltimore Orioles and was also a garage sale buff. He had a talent for "couponing" and was known to accumulate an overabundance of goods.
Tim is survived by his companion, Kimberly Armstrong; and her children, Danielle Neary, Zachary Aversa, and Alexis Armstrong. He will be lovingly remembered by his sister, Cindy Howell of Sharon Springs; and his two nephews, Christopher Howell and Adrian Peterson-Caponera; many cousins; and Kim's family, Maria Aversa and her fiance Lawrence Loy, Kourtney Cooper and her children. He was predeceased by his sister, Roxanne Caponera; and his brother-in-law, Jeff Howell.
Tim's family extends appreciation to the staff of the Onondaga County Medical Examiners Office, especially Nicholas Schultz for their kindness and compassion.
Visitation will be held on Saturday from 5 to 6 p.m. at the Eannace Funeral Home Inc., 932 South St., Utica, NY 13501; 800-357-3019.
Tim's celebration of life will commence immediately upon the conclusion of visitation at 6 p.m. at the funeral home. His family will escort him to his place of rest in Sharon Cemetery Association in Leesville.
