Boys Basketball Roundup: Dragons get past Warriors

AVERILL PARK - Keyshawn Arnold scored 22 of his 24 points in the second half to help Gloversville rally for a 66-58 win over Averill Park in a non-league boys basketball game Tuesday.

The Dragons trailed 33-28 at the half and 44-42 after three quarters before outscoring the Warriors, 24-14, in the fourth quarter.

Asa Barnhill finished with 16 points for Gloversville (1-0 overall), while Hunter Goodwin had 12 points, seven rebounds and three steals. Barceem Dukes added seven points, 11 rebounds and four assists for the Dragons.

Gabe Brown scored 13 points to lead Averill Park (0-1 overall), while Isaiah Moak and Myles Joyce each scored 10 points.

Gloversville is off until Dec. 13 when it will travel to Broadalbin-Perth for its Foothills Council opener.

AMSTERDAM - Kory Bergh scored 20 points to lead Amsterdam to a win over Albany in its Big 10 opener.

Andrew Rouse finished with 13 points for the Rams, while Anferne Aponte added 12 points.

Amsterdam (1-0 overall, 1-0 Big 10) led 40-21 at the half on its way to the win.

Kevin Callendar scored 16 points to lead Albany (0-1 overall, 0-1 Big 10), while Cy-Mier Dace added 10 points.

DOLGEVILLE - John Gerace finished with 18 points, leading Westmoreland to a win over Dolgeville.

Jack Acquaviva scored 17 points for the Bulldogs, while Tyler Taverne finished with 15 points.

Brandon Lewandowski scored 15 points for Dolgeville (1-0 overall), while Reid Johnson and Alex Blakeslee each had eight points.

Dolgeville will face host Oppenheim-Ephratah/St. Johnsville in the opening round of the Cutspec Tournament on?Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
