Josephine Maragno

Mrs. Josephine Maragno, age 84, passed away Saturday, November 30, 2013, at Wesley Health Care Center, Saratoga Springs. She had resided most of her life in Gloversville and also in Johnstown while wintering in Brooksville, Florida, over the years.

She was born on Christmas day, December 25, 1928, in Gloversville, the daughter of the late Phillip and Jennie Puleo. She was a 1946 graduate of Gloversville High School. Josephine was employed in the office at Wood & Hyde Leather Corp. in Gloversville for many years. She was a member of The Church of the Holy Spirit.

Josephine was married to Paul Querbes, who passed away January 7, 2001. She was predeceased by her second husband, Russell Dennie, who died March 21, 1974. On June 7, 1980, she was married to Anthony Maragno Sr., who died April 8, 2006.

Survivors include three children, James P. Querbes (Kimberly) of Greenfield Center, Paulette Lizotte (Adrian) of Cicero and Michael Dennie (Susan) of Meco; three stepchildren, Calvin Dennie (Joni), Anthony Maragno Jr. (Janice) and Robert Maragno (Cathy), all of Gloversville. Survivors also include a brother, Joseph Puleo of Johnstown; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by a brother, Peter Puleo; and a stepson, Russell Dennie Jr.

The family will receive relatives and friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, December 2, at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St., Gloversville, where a prayer service will be conducted 9:15 a.m. Tuesday, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. at The Church of the Holy Spirit, Gloversville. The Rev. Matthew Wetsel will be the celebrant.

Interment will take place at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gloversville.
