JOHNSTOWN - The Fulton County Board of Elections is establishing a classroom for training for people working at elections.
The Board of Supervisors on Monday authorized the purchase of computer classroom equipment with $11,064 from a $27,000 state Board of Elections' Pollworker Voter Education Training Grant the county received in 2008. The grant has a balance of $24,909 in unspent money.
Officials said the county Board of Elections received approval from the state board to use the $11,064 to renovate a storeroom in the county Information Services Department in the County Services Complex on Route 29. The storeroom will be renovated into a classroom for computer training for the Board of Elections and other associated departments.
Equipment due to be purchased by the county includes: nine storage cabinets, folding and round tables, 12 chairs, 450 square feet of carpeting, six computer desks, a ceiling-mount projector and a projector screen.

The county's $1.39 million annual sponsorship contribution to Fulton-Montgomery Community College for 2013-14 was approved by the board. The amount is unchanged from 2012-13.
The board authorized advertisement for bids for transportation to Whispering Pines Preschool Program in Amsterdam, as part of the county's Children with Handicapping Conditions Program.
"We had a student added to our program recently," said county Administrative Officer Jon Stead.
He said a new route to the program for the foster child will be needed. Stead, as county purchasing agent, was authorized to advertise for sealed bids from vendors until 2 p.m. Dec. 11.
The board awarded 2014 bids for milk and dairy products for the county jail.
They went to: Skiff's Dairy of Johnstown - $10.56 per case for 1 percent milk and half-pints; and Mohawk Dairy of Amsterdam - $3.16 per gallon for Grade A milk.
Jail bids for food and other supplies were also awarded as follows: Sysco Foods of Halfmoon - frozen foods, $25,359, and refrigerated food and dry goods - $21,499; and Bimbo Foods of Albany - bread and rolls, $4,342.
Supervisors authorized disposal of a Sheriff's Department shredder and desk, which were both purchased in 1993.
The board set its annual organizational meeting for 10 a.m. Jan. 2 at the County Office Building.
