Carolyn M. Ambrosino Lysogorski, 67, of Gloversville, passed away surrounded by her family on Tuesday evening, November 26, 2013, at The Hospice Inn at St. Peters Hospital, Albany, following a long battle with cancer.
Born on September 21, 1946, in Gloversville, she was the daughter of the late Salvatore and Gladys (Goodbread) Ambrosino.
Carol was employed in various occupations over the years. She worked as a secretary for the NYS Dept. of Taxation and Finance in Albany, as a waitress for the Truck Stops of America, the Holiday Inn, the Pine Brook Golf Course, and Little Laker Joe's, She also worked at the Gloversville High School cafeteria from 1989-92 where many knew her as "Mom"; she had last worked as a cashier at the Johnstown Price Chopper until her illness forced her to retire in April of this year.
She attended the First Free Methodist Church of Gloversville. Carol was also a member of the Johnstown Women of the Moose, where she was active in the Shuffle Board League. She also enjoyed bowling, fishing and camping with her family.
Carol was predeceased by her companion, Peter Gordon, on November 27, 2011. The couple spent many years together and enjoyed camping and traveling in their truck camper. They wintered in the Marathon Keys, FL, for the last 10 years where they enjoyed sailing on their catamaran the "Crazy Cat." She also enjoyed taking yearly trips to Las Vegas.
Besides her parents and companion, Peter, She was predeceased by a son-in-law, David Koga, in 1991, and grandniece, Sophia Christin earlier this year.
Carol is survived by her daughters: Tammy (Justin Wilkes) Koga and Tina (Robert) Wade, all of Gloversville; a grandson: Dylan King of Gloversville; a brother: Ronald (Sharon) Ambrosino of Gloversville; a sister: Patricia (Robert) Carroll of Carver, MA; several nieces, nephews and cousins, several "adopted children" and her feline companion, Tommy.
Friends and relatives are invited to call on the family on Sunday, December 1, 2013, from 1PM until 3PM at the Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville, where a memorial service will follow at 3PM. Burial will be held in the spring at Mount Carmel Cemetery, Johnstown.
