Charles Francis Vacek, age 63, of Alexandria, Va., entered into eternal rest on Friday, November 22, 2013.
He was born on March 3, 1950, in Johnstown, N.Y. to Henry S. and Elizabeth Maceyka Vacek. Charles graduated from Bishop Burke Catholic High School and received his B.A. from Fordham University. He obtained a master's in business administration from the University of South Carolina.
Charles was employed by Pacific Gas & Electric Company in California and left as vice president to accept a position in the George H.W. Bush administration's Department of Energy. Charles recently retired as a lobbyist and representative for Niagara Mohawk Power Company of New York State.
He is survived by two brothers, Henry Vacek of Johnstown, N.Y., Dr. William Vacek of Glastonbury, Conn.; and one sister, Suzanne Calce of Napes, Fla. Charles is also survived by several nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Henry and Elizabeth; and a brother, Michael Vacek.
A funeral Mass was celebrated at 11 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church today, November 26, 2013. Burial will be at St. Anthony's Cemetery in Johnstown, N.Y. at a later date.
